What is Radon?

tl_files/sites/radon/radon-entry-35eaf87e.jpgRadon is an example of an odorless radioactive gas that is formed by the breakdown of Uranium found in rocks and soil. Due to the fact that the pressure in homes is lower than that of soil outside of the foundation, Radon is drawn into the house through cracks, gaps and cavities of the structure. It may also be found in household building materials such as gyproc, tiles and concrete.

Radon is a chemical element which demonstrates a melting point of -71°C, along with a boiling point of -61.7°C. At Standard Temperature and Pressure (STP), Radon is found in the gas phase.
